Brilliant.
I could tell from the very beginning that this podcast would be pretty even-handed. Clearly, you are interested in looking at all sides of the Mormon experience. I disagreed with some of the “favorite” things panelists mentioned — but appreciated everyone’s willingness to share their answers.
John,
Thanks for making these available on itunes. I’ve now been able to go back to the beginning and start listening to your earlier podcasts. I love this one, because for me, even though I struggle with so much of this, it is very healthy to focus on what I do like. I love it.
Zilpha meantioned her interest in the signs of the times. I’d love to hear a podcast devoted to those as well. Here’s my top three:
1. Eternal Progression, celestial evolution, divinity of man (you said it best — love this doctrine — so much HOPE and purpose for life from this)
2. Degrees of glory — not the “three” division, but the idea that there is no eternal “hell” — even the lowest degree of glory is a place of peace and happiness — outer darkness is for those people who understand perfectly and choose not to accept it — agency — nice
3. the promise of mysteries yet to be revealed — this was just exciting. Very intellectually stimulating. I wish there was more of that. Perhaps Mormon Expression is a fulfillment of this prophesy — self-fulfilling — ha
