I enjoyed this. Thanks Troy for sharing your story. I have got to say, keep on agitating. I was totally one of those people out to save marriage from the gays. I totally saw it as an us versus them thing. But its really hard to think that way when you actually know somebody, and there is a face to go with the ‘them’.

Talk about bait-and-switch. When I see an activist holding a megaphone, I expect to hear some amped up righteous indignation, not the kind of thoughtful, reasonable repartee on offer in this podcast.

I loved Troy’s idea about a black lesbian in the quorum of the twelve. I could get behind that. You have to figure that if the church was that liberal that they wouldn’t really be dogmatic about anything by then.

That was outstanding, Troy and Heather. That hour went by so quickly! I’m not even sure what I liked the best, but I know my wife’s a big Indigo Girls fan, so she’ll like those parts when she hears it.

I also really enjoy Troy’s perspective: almost as though he loves the church and its members too much to allow them to be so misguided as they currently are on lgbt issues.

Awesome interview. I sometimes feel like a member of the LGBT fan club because of my guilt of being an intolerant Mormon homophobe for so many years (well, I wasn’t actively homophobic, I just harbored a bit of disapproval and distaste and knocked on doors for Prop 22 back some 11 years ago). Every time I meet someone now that I’m certain is homosexual I have to hold back an urge to hug them and tell them how much I love them and accept them. Then I realize that despite how pure the feelings are in my heart, it’s a condescending message to give them so I refrain.

Keep fighting the good fight and I throw my name in the hat that I will absolutely get re-baptized if they call a black lesbian to be an apostle.
